A few days ago I managed to break my SD card somehow, it works in my camera, but not in my MacBook, or even in my old laptop, so trying to get the photos off was a right pain. I had to install the software for my camera, and search for the USB cable! So, while I wait for my new SD card to arrive (it’s sooo much easier just to stick it in and copy and paste, yes I’m that lazy!) I can get through a few old swatches that I’ve been meaning to post for ages.
First up, The Black Knight, from butter LONDON, which was part of the ‘Sparkle, Sparkle’ Holiday Collection that I got back in November.
The Black Knight is a black polish, packed with glitter, which is mainly pink and blue. It was a little sheer, and took 3 coats to get it opaque, but it was worth it, its so pretty! I think it would be easiest using a normal black polish first, then a couple of coats of The Black Knight on top.
Pictures show three coats with top coat.
Also, the last week or so I’ve barely put my Kindle down! Two of my favourite authors, Sophie Kinsella and Paige Toon released their new books, Wedding Night and The Longest Holiday on the same day, so I quickly made my way through them! The Longest Holiday was my favourite of the two, such a roller coaster of emotions! I still haven’t forgiven Paige Toon for the heartbreak I went through whilst reading Chasing Daisy! Even though I finished The Longest Holiday a day ago, I can’t get it out of my head, I’m suffering from Post Book Depression! I’d definitely recommend all of Paige Toon’s books. I’m just glad I already have Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher to help ease me through the pain! (McFly just came of my iTunes shuffle whilst I was writing that, weird! If you don’t know, Giovanna is Tom Fletcher’s wife!)
Happy New Year everyone!
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has visited, read, commented and followed by blog since I started in March! I hope you all have a great New Year, and I wish you all the best for 2013.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 4,200 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 7 years to get that many views.

Whenever I go for a look around Superdrug, I never seem to look at the 2True stand, but last week I did, and ended up buying three new nail polishes. They were 3 for £4.99, but Superdrug currently have a 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics, so I got 3 for £3.98, can’t complain about that! The first of the three I tried out was shade number 48, Azure Blue. This is a very pretty jelly cornflower blue, with a silver shimmer. It was quite sheer, and I needed 3 coats, but for a cheaper polish it went on nicely.
On Wednesday whilst I was doing my big shop, I noticed Tesco had an offer on The Fifty Shade Trilogy. I’ve seen these books everywhere recently, huge billboards on my trip to London, celebs tweeting and posted pictures of them on Instagram, so I thought I’d buy the first two to see what all the fuss was about. Well, I’m addicted. I’ve already finished the first, and started the second, and halfway through reading the first I ordered the third off Amazon, so hopefully it’ll be here before I finish the second. I think writing this blog is the longest I’ve stopped reading them, other than to sleep! Has anyone else read them?
Tomorrow night I’m supposed to be going out, and I’ve been thinking about what I’m planning to wear, which is probably going to be a trusty LBD, my favourite being this heart jacquard dress which I got from ASOS a couple of years ago. I love the open heart detail on the back. This also gives me the opportunity to have very bright nails, and I think I’ll be going back to Model’s Own, Hedonist, and they don’t get much brighter than that!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ever since I started my blog and started following people, I’ve been dying to try out some dotty patterns, after seeing so many brilliant ones on normandlou! So I got myself some dotting tools off eBay (99p for 5 , love eBay!) and tried them out last night.
I used Nails Inc Notting Hill Gate for the base, and Nails Inc Kensington Park Road, Rimmel Night Before, and Barry M 66 Matt White for the dots.
It did take me a while, mainly because the tools didn’t fit in the bottles very well! And I struggled doing my right hand, but I loved it, and I’ll definitely be doing it again soon!
On twitter earlier, Lindsey Kelk posted pictures of a special ‘I Heart London’ Nails Inc polish to celebrate her new book.
They’re limited edition for a competition, so I’ll definitely be on the look out for that! It would be great if they’d done this throughout the whole ‘I Heart…’ series!
Garrick Street was a polish I received as part of my free gift from Nails Inc, for spending over £35. This polish wouldn’t look out of place in Models Own’s Beetlejuice collection. It’s a lovely purple and blue duo chrome polish, and if anything, I’d say its a better version of Purple Blue. This was two coats, and its very pretty!
I’ve just finished reading Paige Toon’s “One Perfect Summer.’ I finished it in two days, I couldn’t put it down! If you haven’t read any Paige Toon books, I’d highly recommend all of them, especially this, and ‘Chasing Daisy,’ which is my favourite of hers.
So now I’ve finished this book, I’m left with nothing to read until ‘I Heart London’ is out, does anyone have any recommendations?
