I’m going to be taking a short break from blogging, unfortunately my dad passed away suddenly last night, so I have a million and one things to do, and I won’t have any time/motivation to blog. It’s only been a couple of years since my mam passed suddenly, so it’s been a pretty tough few years.
I’ll be back at some point in the next few weeks.
Pedal Faster Suzi is from OPI’s Holland collection. I used it recently when I did some dotted nail art and I thought I’d already written about it. I’ve only tried out two polishes from the Dutch Treats mini collection (the other being I Have A Herring Problem), and this is definitely my favourite so far, maybe because it’s pink! It’s not an ‘in your face’ pink, but I still think it’s very girly, a baby pink with a silver shimmer. It was very sheer, and needed 3 coats to be opaque.
I also got Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It in the post today, which is from OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse collection, and straight away I wanted to try it out, so not thinking about the colour of the hearts in the polish, I put it over Pedal Faster Suzi, which as you can see, didn’t work too well!
I’m going to try this out over a darker colour over the weekend.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned entering Umbro’s #KissTheBadge competition, during Euro 2012. They emailed me a couple of days ago to let me know I’d won! I’ll find out in the next couple of days if I’ve won an England shirt signed by the England team, or by Gazza 🙂
Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been around for a few days, I was trying to give my nails some time to recover as they’re quite badly stained at the minute, and then over the past couple of days, my dog, Sultan wasn’t very well, and sadly I had to have him put to sleep yesterday morning 🙁
Last week I came second in a competition from The Pea’s Knees, and I won Barry M‘s five new colours, Nude, Denim, Black Multi Glitter, Cappuccino and Silvery Lilac.
I decided to try Nude out first, I didn’t want something too dark, I’m going to try and leave my nails bare for a little bit longer between painting, to try and prevent more staining, usually I’d take one polish off and put another straight on – not good!
Nude is very sheer, my pictures show three coats. Two coats would have been ok, but some of the staining on my nails was still visible through that.
Nude is great if you want your nails to have a clean, natural look, but don’t have perfect nails. It was also nice and glossy without needed a top coat.
I picked up Revlon’s Facets of Fuchsia as part of Boots’ 2 for £10 offer, mainly because I had a gift card burning a hole in my purse, and what better to spend it on than more nail polish?!
I’m struggling to decide whether I like this polish or not, but I’m not sure why I don’t like it! I don’t know if its too dark, or not glittery enough compared to how it looks in the bottle, I just can’t put my finger on it.
This is just to show how the polish builds up. It starts very light with one coat, as shown on my index finger, two on my middle finger, three on my ring finger and four on my little finger. I decided to go for four coats as I wanted to try and get a bit more glitter on.
So as I can’t decide how much I like this polish, I’ll leave it at that, and I should have decided by my next post!
And while I was writing this post, Titus Bramble posted this picture of him and some of the other players at Cheltenham, so I’m sharing my love of Phil Bardsley, who is fourth from the right, almost centre of the picture.
Today I was at the Sunderland game against Liverpool. Sunderland won 1-0! Before the game I’d have been happy with a draw, although I’m even happier with the win and taking all three points! We definitely got lucky with the goal though, a shot from Fraizer Campbell which hit the post, bounced off the back of Pepe Reina’s head and hitting the post again before Nicklas Bendter knocked it in!
We play Everton next weekend in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup, 90 minutes (although 180 if there’s a replay) from going to Wembley, not often that chance comes around for a Sunderland supporter!
Onto my nails!
I loved how I’ve had my nails for the last couple of days but I still have new colours that I haven’t tried out yet. I’d also appreciate any tips on removing glitter polish. I thought it might have been easier over another polish, but no! So please share your glitter removing tips with me!
Today I went for nails inc’s Chinatown, which is a hot pink. It also has a purple shimmer to it (one of the reasons I decided to buy it, as it made it different from all my other pinks). This polish went on really nicely, and only needed two coats. It also has a lovely glossy finish to it. But once again I’m going to say now amazing I think nails inc’s 45 second top coat is!
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
As expected my ‘Baker Street’ nails didn’t last long, couldn’t wait to try out other new colours! Today I started off with nails inc Pall Mall. This is a very light oyster shell shade, shimmery with a hint of pink. I struggled to capture the shimmer in the colour. It looked ok after two coats, but I felt it needed three for the best coverage.
I also got a chance to try out my new nails inc Kensington caviar base coat and top coat. I wasn’t quite sure if the top coat would be touch dry in 45 seconds as it claimed, but it was, I’m always smudging my nails so this should be very helpful!
Originally I was going to finish off my nails with a gradient glitter on my ring fingers, but I liked it so much that I decided to do all my nails! This is Rimmel’s Lasting Finish in Disco Ball. Disco Ball is a mainly made up of small holographic silver glitter, with larger blue and purple pieces of glitter, and looks great when it catches the light.
