Bling It On – Leather & Skulls

In December, Nails Inc released their ‘Bling It On – Leather & Skulls collection.’ The polish is inspired by the SS13 trend for texture, (Nails Inc also have a concrete effect polish) and leather, and was worn by Alexa Chung at the British Fashion Awards.

So when Nails Inc sent me an email offering me 15% discount because I hadn’t bought anything for a while, I thought I’d give it a try.

In the box, you get the Leather Effect polish, 4 skull embellishments, nail glue, and a cuticle stick.

You apply the polish just as you normally would, two coats, the polish applies glossy, but as it dried the leather effect appears. Nails Inc have a video showing how to apply the polish here, but you can’t really go wrong.

At first, I wasn’t convinced I liked it. I’m not a big fan of matte polish, but after wearing it for a couple of hours, I was won over.

I added the skull to my thumb (very fiddly, and I shouldn’t be allowed to use nail glue, I cam very close to sticking my fingers together at one point!) I’d have preferred it on my ring finger, but I found it was a little too big, and because of the curve in my nail it was hard to stick it in place.

I LOVE the polish, but I don’t think I’ll be wearing the skulls much, I keep getting my hair caught in it! Also, in this cold weather, all the fluff from my gloves would get caught in it! Not a great look.

Leather & Skulls is currently available in black and tan, priced at £19, and red is being released in a couple of months. I think the tan would be a great look for work.

Have you tried Leather & Skulls? Do you like the textured nails trend?

Lyndsey 🙂
