Edinburgh Zoo

On Tuesday, one of my friends and I had a day trip to Edinburgh, to visit Edinburgh Zoo. Obviously, I had to have appropriately themed nails, and I took my inspiration from Pinterest. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture on my camera before the battery died, so I had to take one on my iPhone.  I used the Models Own Ice Cream Sundae collection as the bases, then used acrylic paint and the Barry M nail art pens for the details.

I also wanted to share some of my highlights from the zoo. You may or may not be aware that there is the possibility that the zoo’s female panda, Tian Tian, could be pregnant. Because of this, she has chosen to be ‘off show’ a lot over the last couple of weeks, so a lot of visitors hadn’t seen her, and the male panda, Yang Guang, has also been under the weather, and has spent a lot of time off show recently, whilst being more active at night. When we arrived at the zoo we were told there was no panda viewings (you have an allocated time slot) but instead you were able to go whenever you wanted, as many times as you liked. This worked out well for us, as we headed straight for the Panda enclosure, and luckily, Tian Tian was out.

Unfortunately Yang Guang was choosing to be off show, but I was glad we got to see Tian Tian, I’d have been disappointed to go all that way and not see one of them!

I was also excited to see the king penguins, emperor penguins are my favourite, and king penguins are like a mini version of them!

We also got to see the penguin parade which I absolutely loved! I can’t post the videos on here, but if you would like to see them, they’re on my instagram.

Then, after a tiring walk up a big hill, we had a stunning view, it was definitely worth it!

We headed back down the hill, and as we got to one of the five monkey enclosures, the squirrel and capuchin monkeys were being given some apples, which was fun to watch, and I love monkeys! (Although I was disappointed there wasn’t a capuchin called Marcel!)

I loved seeing the chimpanzees too, it was the first time I had seen any, but as they were all inside, all of my pictures were a little blurry.

Once we were done in the zoo we had a walk up to Edinburgh Castle, although we didn’t see much as entry is £16 (we’d also missed last entry, but I wouldn’t have paid that anyway!) so we made our way back down, and I got this shot of the castle as we were on our way to Nandos.

I had a great day, my poor legs and feet were aching the next day though, I could barely move them!

Also, don’t forget to check out my giveaway if you haven’t already, there’s still 10 days left to enter.

Lyndsey 🙂
