I really loved the blood spatter nails I did for Halloween last week, so I thought I’d give them another go, and do a quick tutorial as I did it.
Start off with your base colour, I used Models Own White Light HyperGel (I found the HyperGel’s are great for this as they’re quite thick.) Wait until it’s completely dry. Don’t worry if it’s a little messy, because it gets messier!
You will need a straw, some scissors, tape, polish, and something to protect the surface you’re working on. Cut the straw down to size, I found cutting it into quarters was perfect. The polish I used was Models Own Blue Glint and Cerise Shine, and Pukka Purple.
Tape off around your nails to help with clean up. I didn’t do this for the blood spatter ones, and I wish I had because this one was so much quicker to clean up!
Drop a dollop of polish onto a piece of paper (plastic, foil, whatever you like to use) and dip the straw into it, so it creates a film across the hole. If your polish is quite thin it won’t work.
Hold the straw above your nail and blow hard. The closer you hold the straw, the larger the spatter!
Repeat until you’re happy with the results. I like to mix up the order, so for example I started with pink on a few nails, purple and blue on others, then the same for whatever colour I used next.
Add top coat, clean up with acetone, use some moisturiser or cuticle oil, and voila!
Have you tried spatter nails before?
