Christmas Decals

I know I’m a week late with this, but never mind, better late than never!

I got these cute water decals from Born Pretty, and decided to save them for my main Christmas nails.

I started with a snowy looking base, using Nails Inc Royal Botanical Gardens and Models Own White Light HyperGel.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Born Pretty Halloween Decals

These Halloween Born Pretty water decals are a very quick and easy way of creating some Halloween nail art. There is five different designs on the sheet, and twenty overall, and are available in gold or silver.

Like all Born Pretty water decals they are very easy to apply, just dip them in water for 20-30 seconds and the design will slide off the backing paper, and you can position it on the nail, dab off any excess water and seal it with top coat.

I just went for a simple design, using Models Own Liquorice Allsorts as a base.

Born Pretty Barbie Decals

This may be the girliest mani I’ve ever done! These Born Pretty Barbie decals have seven different images, all Barbie pink of course!

I’m a big fan of water decals, they’re simple to use and can create some beautiful nail art. And of course you can even design your own, like I did for the Capital One Cup Final.

I used Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, and Butter London Fairy Cake, along with a few rhinestones.

Born Pretty Rhinestones

These Born Pretty black and pearly white iridescent rhinestones come in four shapes, tear drop, oval, heart, and plain round rhinestones. They’re very easy to stick on, I just used a wax pencil, and placed them on when my polish was still wet.

I love that rhinestones can easily be used to quickly add some nail art and sparkle to your existing mani too!

OPI You’re So Vain-illa (I did top coat over the rhinestones on this one as I was going to the gym afterwards!)

Barry M Boots 2012 Xmas LE and piCture pOlish Aurora. I LOVE all the colours in the black rhinestones, and I thought they went perfectly with Aurora.

Born Pretty Foil Decoration

Born Pretty’s gold and silver nail art foil comes in 12 individual pots, 6 of each colour, one sheet in each pot. Each sheet is about 2 inches x 2 inches, and is more like gold/silver leaf than foil, it’s a lot thinner than foil.

The foil is very easy to use, (although very fiddly! You have to make sure you breathe in other directions, I had pieces flying everywhere!) so even beginners can create some fantastic nail art.

I tore off small pieces, and used tweezers to place it randomly on my nails, and I also covered the whole of my little finger, simply by placing it over still wet polish, then just folding the edges over and adding top coat.

After this mani, I still had around half of the square left, so it’s very good value!

World Cup Nail Decals

Hello everyone, I’m back (again!) I haven’t really done my nails much over the last month, I’ve been letting them recover after finishing my acrylic and gel courses (I’m now a qualified nail tech!) I’ve also been trying to make some progress tidying my house out so that I can redecorate one of the bedrooms. A couple of weeks ago I sent THIRTEEN bags to a charity shop!

Obviously I have a lot of swatching to catch up on, but I have a lot of posts planned for the next few weeks.

First up, World Cup nail decals! The 2014 World Cup kicked off in Brazil last week, and as I was so busy I totally forgot to do some sort of nail art for England’s first group game. Then I remembered that I’d bought these decals a few months ago from Born Pretty, so I put them on today, for England’s crucial game against Uruguay later. Hopefully they’ll bring some luck!

The polish I used is Models Own HyperGel White Light and Red Lustre.

Born Pretty Holo #9

Another Born Pretty holo! I also got this one using my Born Pretty points. Holo #9 is a pretty light lavender holo polish, which was quite sheer, but other than that the formula was great and it dried quickly. My pictures show 3 coats with top coat.

Born Pretty Holo #1

Firstly, I’d like to say thank you to every one who entered my giveaway. I will be drawing the winners and contacting them tonight, and I shall announce them on my blog in the next couple of days.

I’m a big fan of Born Pretty’s holo polishes, so when I’d built up a few points, I decided to get another couple. Holo #1  is a silver polish, with a strong holo effect in bright light. It was very sheer, but it was worth the 4 coats, because it is so pretty! Other than how sheer it was, the formula was great, and it dried really quickly. I’ve found that will all Born Pretty holos, whereas others have been quite streaky to start with.

My pictures show four coats with no top coat.

Born Pretty Mixed Studs

I was sent these studs for review from Born Pretty about a month ago, but hadn’t had the time to create a few different manis with them to show them off. I had to find the time to them individually so I could post them all in one review!

I received a box of mixed studs, which come in gold, silver and black, in various different shapes, including hearts, stars, triangles and squares. There is approximately 200 studs.  The studs had been a little mixed up during shipping, but that was easy to sort out, and the lid fits on tightly. The lid twists to the compartment you would like, so you don’t have to worry about spilling the whole box everywhere!

Some of the smaller studs are quite hard to pick up, so I would suggest using a wax pencil, it makes it a lot easier! They are easy to apply, I just stuck them on after applying the last layer of nail polish, and then sealed them in with a coat of top coat (apart from with the liquid sand polish, but they still stayed on for a few days.)

The only problem I found was that some of the larger studs don’t sit flat on the nail, so you have to bend them slightly, although they were quite easy to bend.

This box is perfect for both beginners to nail art, and those who more experienced, as you can create a wide range of looks.

The studs are available at Born Pretty for $3.99 (about £2.50!) and they have free worldwide shipping. You can also get 10% off using the code below!

Born Pretty Holo #2

Born Pretty Holo #2 is a pretty light pink holo polish. Like holo #10, the formula is great, it applied perfectly with no streaks, but it was a little sheer. My pictures shows three coats with top coat.

Born Pretty Holos are currently discounted by 57%, to $5.59 (around £3.60) and you can get 10% off your order using the code YDL91. They have free worldwide shipping too!
