In the middle of March, I ordered my first indie polishes, from Lush Lacquer. I’ve been looking for some indie polishes for a while, and I loved their neon glitters! Three weeks after placing my order, they arrived!
I ordered mini bottles of ‘I Lost My Marbles,’ ‘Glitter Girl,’ ‘Mr Bubble,’ ‘Clowning Around,’ and ‘Pink Panther.’ I could have easily bought every bottle they have, they’re all so pretty!
I Lost My Marbles was the first I tried out, and it’s a bright, bubblegum pink base, filled with different sized neon hex glitter. It applied well, and only needed two coats. I did have a problem fishing the larger glitter out, I managed to get a few pieces on my thumb, but I’ll have to give the bottle more of a shake next time.
I love this polish, and I can’t wait to try out the other 4!
Last week, my cousin was over visiting from Germany, so we went out in Durham on Friday, before he went back home on Sunday morning. I wore a plain red skater dress with a white skinny belt, a H&M jacket, and plain black wedge boots.
My cousins and I
Whenever I go for a look around Superdrug, I never seem to look at the 2True stand, but last week I did, and ended up buying three new nail polishes. They were 3 for £4.99, but Superdrug currently have a 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics, so I got 3 for £3.98, can’t complain about that! The first of the three I tried out was shade number 48, Azure Blue. This is a very pretty jelly cornflower blue, with a silver shimmer. It was quite sheer, and I needed 3 coats, but for a cheaper polish it went on nicely.
On Wednesday whilst I was doing my big shop, I noticed Tesco had an offer on The Fifty Shade Trilogy. I’ve seen these books everywhere recently, huge billboards on my trip to London, celebs tweeting and posted pictures of them on Instagram, so I thought I’d buy the first two to see what all the fuss was about. Well, I’m addicted. I’ve already finished the first, and started the second, and halfway through reading the first I ordered the third off Amazon, so hopefully it’ll be here before I finish the second. I think writing this blog is the longest I’ve stopped reading them, other than to sleep! Has anyone else read them?
Tomorrow night I’m supposed to be going out, and I’ve been thinking about what I’m planning to wear, which is probably going to be a trusty LBD, my favourite being this heart jacquard dress which I got from ASOS a couple of years ago. I love the open heart detail on the back. This also gives me the opportunity to have very bright nails, and I think I’ll be going back to Model’s Own, Hedonist, and they don’t get much brighter than that!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
My new Konad tools came in the post last week! I couldn’t wait for them to arrive so I could try them out and see how easy it was. It was easy and I love the finished effects! As soon as I got it I had to try it straight away, so I just used Barry M‘s 312 Indigo over OPI’s Pink Friday that I was already wearing – not bad for a first attempt!
For anyone that is not familiar with Konad, you get a round image plate, a stamper and a scraper. You paint your chosen colour polish over the image you want on the stamper (I used ordinary polish, but I may get a white Konad special polish), scrape off the excess, and place the stamper over the image, using a sort of rolling motion. The design comes straight out of the image plate, and you stamp the image onto your nail using the same rolling motion.
This is Barry M’s 306 Blueberry Ice Cream, and I used 312 Indigo as the stamp colour.
I love this! Although I have since found out you can get a lot of image plates on Amazon for a lot less than the price of Konad plates, so I’ll be getting those ones next time.
This was my second full attempt, the first time I used a dark base with white to stamp, but I found the white didn’t show up as much as I’d hope, which is why I’ll probably be buying the Konad white. I can see me using this a lot though, it’s so quick and easy and you get a fab nails!
On Saturday night it was the 2012 British Soap Awards, and I love seeing what all the girls are wearing. A lot of the stars seemed to be flashing as much flesh as possible whilst still wearing floor length dresses! Michelle Keegan was easily the winner of Best Dressed for me, she looked absolutely stunning in a sparkling midnight blue Jexica gown.
So with all the new polishes I’ve had lately, I’ve finally made it round to trying out one from the OPI Dutch Treats collection. I Have A Herring Problem is a shimmery blue/grey polish. I’ve read a few other reviews which have said that there was also a teal/green colour to this, but I didn’t see it. Also please ignore my very poorly painted middle finger nail, I’m not sure how I managed to do that!
My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, so I’ve been trying to find a nice dress to wear when I go out, here are some I have to choose from, it’s not going to be an easy decision!
Missguided Chellsea Contrast Bandage Skater Dress. I love this dress. The top is bandage style, with the bottom half being a skater dress. I love bandage dresses, but they don’t suit my body shape, but skater dresses are perfect.
Dorothy Perkins Black Pleat and Fold Dress. This is one I’ve just ordered when DP had their 25% off week, so I haven’t tried it on yet. I love the style of this dress, and the colours. They also have this dress where the colours are reversed, going from orange to black, but I preferred the orange belt, rather than the black belt on the orange dress.
Dorothy Perkins Feverfish Mint Green Tunic Dress. This is another I’m yet to try on, but I LOVE it. I love the colour, the design, everything.
ASOS Tulip Dress in Butterfly Textured Fabric in Surf The Web. I got this dress from the ASOS sale, £40 down to £16! I absolutely love the colour, and the butterfly detail is very cute.
Also as a birthday present to myself, I’m planning on buying the NIKON Coolpix S6300. If anyone has this camera I’d love to know what you think about it!
After trying out some of the Model’s Own Beetlejuice collection I’m back to the OPI collections I bought, with ‘Be A Dahlia Won’t You’ from the Nice Stems collection. I think this may be one of my favourite pinks now. It’s a very bright magenta, with a shimmering finish. It was slightly sheer at first, but it only took three coats to cover. This would also be a great base for I Lily Love You.
I had a bit of a shopping spree the other day before I went to see Titanic 3D. A lot of the things I bought featured the Union Jack, because of the Queen’s Jubilee later this year, along with this Bruce Springsteen vest from H&M. I somehow managed to stop myself from buying any more nail polish too!
Today I’m waiting for UPS to deliver my new iPad (excited!) Repainted my nails thinking they might have turned up in the middle, but no 🙁 still no iPad!
Today I chose OPI’s Save Me, which is part of the Nicki Minaj collection. This is a glitter polish, made up of a lot of small silver glitter, and holographic strands. This polish might work better as a top coat, but I found that it built up really easily after three coats.
In some lights, this polish just looks like a silver glitter, with a hint of blue strands in, but once it hits the light the strands give it a super sparkly rainbow effect. The photos don’t really do this polish justice!
I also couldn’t resist this gorgeous skater dress I spotted on ASOS last night!
Sunderland have a massive game tomorrow which I’m very nervous about, FA Cup Quarter Final away to Everton, we have 6,000 fans going down, so hopefully we’ll get a good result! I can’t imagine what it would be like if we got to Wembley!
I hope everyone has a good weekend! My iPad has just turned up (yay!) so I’m going to go and set it up!
