This week I’ve started a new (and my first!) nail art challenge, set up by the British Nail Bloggers.
The first weeks theme is red, so I decided on some fairly simple Minnie Mouse themed nails.
I used the Models Own Red Lustre and White Light HyperGels, and the black Models Own nail art pen.
Make sure you check out what the other British Nail Bloggers have done for the red theme!
Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It is from OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse collection. I love the whole collection, but chose to just buy this one, as I don’t have any polishes like this, but I do have lots of pinks and reds. Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It is a glitter top coat, shimmering pink with lots of pink hearts. I didn’t manage to get one heart on as I applied the polish, instead I had to dab them on after I’d finished to get the positioned where I wanted them. I do love the finished result though, so for me its worth it. This is over Barry M’s 273 Raspberry. I’ll definitely be trying this out over other colours.
Pedal Faster Suzi is from OPI’s Holland collection. I used it recently when I did some dotted nail art and I thought I’d already written about it. I’ve only tried out two polishes from the Dutch Treats mini collection (the other being I Have A Herring Problem), and this is definitely my favourite so far, maybe because it’s pink! It’s not an ‘in your face’ pink, but I still think it’s very girly, a baby pink with a silver shimmer. It was very sheer, and needed 3 coats to be opaque.
I also got Nothin’ Mousie ’bout It in the post today, which is from OPI’s Vintage Minnie Mouse collection, and straight away I wanted to try it out, so not thinking about the colour of the hearts in the polish, I put it over Pedal Faster Suzi, which as you can see, didn’t work too well!
I’m going to try this out over a darker colour over the weekend.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned entering Umbro’s #KissTheBadge competition, during Euro 2012. They emailed me a couple of days ago to let me know I’d won! I’ll find out in the next couple of days if I’ve won an England shirt signed by the England team, or by Gazza 🙂
A couple of days ago I did some Mickey Mouse nail art, and yesterday I did Minnie Mouse. I used Andrea Fulerton’s Stripe and Sparkle Ann for the red, (my Barry M red seems to have gone a bit thin and chipped easy, time to pick up a new one!) Barry M 66 Matt White, and 47 Black. I found the Mickey accent finger was a lot easier then Minnie!
So I’ve been a bit busy playing on my new iPad (I’m addicted to Draw Something) and I thought I’d give my nails a few days break whilst waiting for new polishes in my ELF order. The first one I tried out was Purple Dream, which is a gorgeous glossy polish. It applied really nicely, but I found it was quite watery, and I needed 3 coats for full coverage. Overall, I love the colour, but I’ve already chipped it once, so I don’t think it’ll last very long, but I can’t really complain for £1.50!
I also ordered two OPI mini sets last night, the Holland collection and Nice Stems! Very excited, especially for Be A Dahlia Won’t You?, Come To Poppy, I Lily Love You, Kiss Me on My Tulips and Pedal Faster Suzi! – all the pinks! I also can’t wait for OPI’s Minnie Mouse collection to come out later this year, very cute! L to R: I’m All Ears, Nothin’ Mousie ’bout it, If You Moust You Moust and The Color of Minnie.
One last thing, does anybody know where I can buy China Glaze polish in the UK? Either online or in a shop, they have some amazing colours but I can’t find them anywhere!
