Born Pretty Barbie Decals

This may be the girliest mani I’ve ever done! These Born Pretty Barbie decals have seven different images, all Barbie pink of course!

I’m a big fan of water decals, they’re simple to use and can create some beautiful nail art. And of course you can even design your own, like I did for the Capital One Cup Final.

I used Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, and Butter London Fairy Cake, along with a few rhinestones.

Don’t forget to use the code YDL91 for 10% off!

Born Pretty recently sent me some items for review, all views are my own.

Sweet Shop

A few months ago, Models Own released their Sweet Shop collection, 5 sweet scented polishes! I definitely have a sweet tooth, so I was quite excited about these.

Rhubard & Custard is a red jelly base with silver glitter. I think this had the weakest smell, it wore off quite quickly too. Picture show three coats.

Pear Drops is a coral with a fine silver shimmer (my camera has picked it up a bit more orangey.) Again, like Rhubarb and Custard, the scent isn’t the strongest. Pictures show three coats.

Fizzy Cola is a beige creme with a gold and silver shimmer. Pictures show two coats.

Gumballs, my favourite! A bright pink creme, which of course smells like bubblegum (amazing!) The formula was a little thick, and I only needed two coats.

Liquorice Allsorts is a glossy black creme. I thought I’d hate the smell of this one, as I can’t stand the smell of liquorice, but it actually wasn’t too bad. Like Gumballs the formula was thick, and I only needed two coats.

What do you think about the Sweet Shop collection, or scented polish in general, love it or hate it?

Are there any other sweets you’d like to have a scented polish for?

Modern Family Collection – Part 2

Today I have the second half of my Nicole by OPI Modern Family collection. As I mentioned in part 1, I currently only have 8 of the collection, but I’m sure I’ll have more in the future!

Basking In Gloria is a gorgeous reddy-pink shimmer. Pictures show three coats.

She’s Lily Something is a star glitter in a sheer shimmery base. I used two coats over four different polishes – (index to little finger) Nails Inc Elizabeth Street, Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, OPI Pedal Faster Suzi, Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset.

Stand By Your Manny is one of my favourites, a pretty pastel baby blue with silver shimmer. The formula was very sheer though, I needed four coats for full opacity.

What’s The Mitch-uation? is a dark shimmering blue which looks blurple in some lights. Pictures show three coats.

Modern Family Collection – Part 1

Nicole by OPI

Today I have 4 polishes from the Nicole by OPI Modern Family collection to show you. There’s 14 overall in the collection, and I have 8 of them, so I thought doing it in two parts would be better than a huge picture spam!

I *LOVE* Modern Family. I originally only started watching it towards the beginning of this year, but thanks to Netflix, I binge watched 4 seasons in about a week and a half. I’ve even re-watched them all whilst waiting for new seasons to start. I just can’t get enough! Phil and Gloria are definitely my favourites, but Lily has some brilliant lines!

Onto the polish!

Back In My Gloria Days is a bright jewel-purple shimmer. The formula was a little sheer, but it built up well. My pictures show three coats.

By the way, does anyone else hate the shape of the Nicole by OPI bottles? They so hard to hold!

A Like-Hayley Story is a bright pink with a subtle gold shimmer. It looks more coral on my photos, but it was definitely a hot pink! The formula was a little patchy, but evened out well. Pictures show three coats.

A Phil’s Paradise is a stunning pewter shimmer. I wasn’t a massive fan of it in the bottle, but I loved it on the nail. My pictures show three coats.

Candid Cameron is a beautiful teal shimmer, which unfortunately is quite brush strokey. Pictures show three coats.

Do you have any of the Modern Family collection? Which is your favourite?

Barry M recently released their Glitterati collection, and I am in love!

Barry M

Unfortunately when I went to Superdrug, they only had one left! I was pretty devastated, but ordered three others from ASOS once I got home (and I had a £5 voucher, woohoo!) and I can’t wait for that nail mail!

The only one I was able to pick up from Superdrug was VIP, but was actually my favourite from viewing other swatches, I just love a blue!

VIP is a bright blue jelly base, with blue iridescent and holo glitter. The formula was a little thick, and I found I needed three coats to even up a few patches.

Which is your favourite from the glitterati collection?

I’m sure everyone is sick of hearing about my MacBook issues, but a couple of weeks ago it packed up completely, so I haven’t been able to blog. I had to wait a week for a genius appointment, and was told my hard drive had totally failed, but I cannot fault Apple’s customer service! In the past they’ve replaced my MagSafe charger, a lightning cable adaptor, and my iPhone when the lock button broke, all for free, but I thought a new hard drive might have been a bit of a stretch, but I was wrong! I was even amazed at how quickly it was repaired, I was told it would be 3-5 days, but I got a call the next morning to say it was ready for pick up – about 15 hours after I took it in!

Whilst I’ve been MacBook-less, I’ve been doing some swatching (along with buying more polish, so many amazing new ones out right now!) so I have lots of posts to come!

Barry M have recently released a whole host of new nail paints, the Glitterati collection, new additions to the silk collection and two new additions to the aquarium collection.

Persian is one of the new additions to the aquarium collection (the other being a glitter topper) and is gorgeous purple and gold/bronze duo chrome.

It was quite sheer, my pictures show three coats.

Have you tried any of the new Barry M’s? What are your favourites?

Colour Me Crazy – Pastel

For pastel week I decided to got for a rainbow gradient. I was originally going to do full nail rainbow gradient like I did last year, but instead went for a gradual rainbow across my whole hand.

My gradient tutorial can be found here

I started off with Models Own White Light HyperGel as a base, then used the entire Ice Cream Sundae collection for the rainbow (Fuzzy Peach, Lemon Meringue, Jaded Stone, Beth’s Blue, Lilac Dream and Pastel Pink) then topped it off with two coats of HK Girl.

Colour Me Crazy – Black & White

This week, my MacBook decided to break AGAIN. It did exactly the same as it did a few weeks ago, so I was pretty sure it was the hard drive this time. I even took pictures of this weeks nails on my iPhone so I could still get my post done (then replace the pictures when my MacBook was fixed!) So I had a trip to the Apple Store at the Metro Centre, anyone from the same area who has been to the Metro Centre lately will know the current roadworks on the A1 are a nightmare (and are there until 2016!) which meant even though I’d set off earlier than usual, I was still 10 minutes late for my genius appointment. Thankfully they were able to fit me in, a lot of people have been having the same problem with the traffic, where the guy restored and reinstalled everything, and didn’t find anything wrong with my hard drive. I now have a current Time Machine back up, and all those 85,000 folders still to hunt through, so if my HD does end up going, everything is now safe. Make sure you back up guys! Don’t be like me!

Anyway! As I said it my last post, I was struggling with the black and white theme, being a Sunderland supporter, black and white is pretty much forbidden together! I did some searching on Pinterest, and found this great constellation mani by Manicurity.  As soon as I saw it, I knew that’s what I wanted to do, and I love the way it turned out.

I used Nails Inc New York Noir, the white Barry M Nail Art Pen, and Sweet Color #124 from Born Pretty.

Colour Me Crazy – Purple

Week 7 of the BNB Nail Art Challenge, and I’m still managing to keep on track! This weeks prompt was purple.

I decided to go for a sponge gradient (it was originally meant to be purple and blue, but the blue just kind of blended in!) with Barry M’s Prickly Pear Gelly, and OPI Vant to Bite My Neck?

Please excuse the tip wear, I’d had this on two days before I could take some photos!

Next week is going to be hard work for me, I’m going to have to come up with something that isn’t too black and white, as a Sunderland supporter I cannot have black and white nails lol 😀
