Cap ‘n Cook

Another from Cadillacquer’s Breaking Bad collection, Cap ‘n Cook is a lovely deep purple with a red/pink shimmer and scattered holo effect. Apart from Better Call Saul, I think this might be my favourite from the collection, although I do also love Pinkman.

The formula was great, and I used three coats for the photos below, with no top coat.

The Breaking Bad collection is available at Rainbow Connection, and make sure you check out Nailderella’s amazing macro swatches!

Better Call Saul!

I’m a big fan of Breaking Bad, and I was so sad when the series came to an end a few weeks ago, it’s definitely up there with some of my all time favourite tv shows, so when I saw that Cadillacquer were launching a Breaking Bad collection, I couldn’t wait for Rainbow Connection to get them! I picked three from the collection (for now!) If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know I love blue polish, so I was torn between Better Call Saul!, and Car Wash, I decided on Better Call Saul purely for the name!

Better Call Saul is a gorgeous bright blue, with a turquoise shimmer and scattered holo. I used three coats with no top coat.

Expecto Patronum

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so when Rainbow Connection stocked Expecto Patronum by Dollish Polish, I had to snap it up! For anyone who isn’t a fan of Harry Potter, Expecto Patronum is the Patronus charm, which defends against dementors, and when cast, the charm takes the form of a bright white, translucent animal.

PatronusHarry Potter’s Patronus

Expecto Patronum is a milk white polish, with teal glitter, and it is so pretty! The formula was a little thick, but it evened out well, and there was no issues with the glitter application. My pictures show three coats with one coat of HK Girl top coat.

Expecto Patronum is currently sold out, but you can still get 10% off at Rainbow Connection using the code OPEN, until October 13.

Teal It Like It Is

I’m going to start this post with a bit of a rant! I’ve been loaded with cold for the past couple of days, so I was looking forward to my ASOS delivery – two of the Barry M Royal Glitter collection. Unfortunately, as soon as I retrieved the box from the safe place the courier had left it, I knew at least one of the bottles had smashed as it had leaked through the box. I opened it to find both of the bottles smashed, and polish everywhere, and it stank! Unbelievably, ASOS had put both bottles in a reasonably large box, with just a piece of those large plastic air bubble things (I have no idea what it’s called.) So because the bottles had no protection around them individually, they’d smashed against each other and broken. Surely common sense would tell you that two glass bottles, in a box, would move around a bit, and would smash against each other! The same thing happened with the last polish I bought from ASOS too, Ladbroke Grove, but because it was the only one in the box, it survived. When ASOS sent the replacements, they were also unwrapped, so I’m amazed it didn’t happen again.

Anyway! On to my nails. I was looking forward to talking about the Barry M Royal Glitters, but they’ll have to wait! So here is another from Rainbow Connection, Teal It Like It Is, by Liquid Sky Lacquer. Teal It Like It Is is a thermal scattered holo polish, which is teal when it’s cold,  and light blue when it’s warm. So for me, who usually has freezing cold hands, they were almost always bright teal.  To show off the change I had to stick my hands under the hot tap, and then dip the tips into cold water.

The formula was great, my pictures show three coats, with one coat of HK Girl top coat.

Masterpiece was one of the Cadillacquer polishes I ordered from Rainbow Connection last week, from the Dexter collection. I’m not usually mad about green polish but I couldn’t resist this one!

Masterpiece is a bright jade green jelly base, filled with red glitter, that looks just like blood splatters! It was a little sheer, but the formula was good otherwise, and it dried quickly. My pictures show 3 coats with one coat of HK Girl top coat. This would be a perfect Christmas polish too!

Don’t forget you can get 10% off at Rainbow Connection until 6th October using the code OPEN.

Loose Glitter Nails

A few months ago I spotted this glitter set in TK Maxx, and I couldn’t resist, it was so sparkly! There was a couple of different sets, and the one I chose has 12 extra fine glitters, and 12 chunky glitters. I’ve looked at it a few times since I bought it, but I thought it was going to be really messy to use!

I decided to use the fine amethyst first, and started off with 2 coats of Barry M’s Prickly Pear Gelly.

After the second coat, I painted a third, and applied the glitter one nail at a time. I had a folded sheet of paper underneath to catch the excess, and just poured it liberally all over my nail. Then I tapped my finger to get any loose off. I expected my fingers to be covered in glitter by the time I was finished, but surprisingly there wasn’t much stuck to my fingers, and it washed off easily.

My new Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat arrived this morning from Rainbow Connection, and I knew this would be the perfect time to try it out. I didn’t want any loose glitter going in the new bottle, so I started off with one coat of cheap top coat, and then two coats of HK Girl. HK Girl was very quick drying, and left my mani very shiny!

Have you ever used loose glitter to create a sparkly mani?

The Dark Defender

For weeks, I have been excited about the opening of Rainbow Connection, UK’s premier stockist of top international independent nail lacquer brands, including Dollish Polish, Lush Lacquer, Polished by KPT, Lacquer Lust, Cadillacquer and Pahlish. I’ve been selling a lot of stuff on eBay recently, so every time I’d save a little to put towards some indie polish! Annette opened the store last weekend, and the first brands to go live were CadillacquerCrowsToesLiquid Sky Lacquer, and a pre-order for Polished by KPT. I’ve mentioned a few times that I’ve been lusting after some Polished by KPT thermals, so I ordered a couple of those, as well as a couple of Cadillacquer polishes, and one Liquid Sky Lacquer. I’ve also ordered the Glisten and Go HK Girl Top Coat, because I’ve heard rave reviews about it!

My first order arrived three days after I placed it, and even came with a sweet! I love people who send sweets when I order things! (truffleshuffle do it too)

Liquid Sky Lacquer even came in a cute organza bag!

The two Cadillacquer polishes I chose were from the Dexter collection (I missed out on Have A Killer Day.) I love Dexter, and I’m gutted it’s finished, but pretty polish makes it a little better! The Dark Defender is my favourite of the two. It’s amazing, I’m in love with it! (I also had a fan girl moment when Cadillacquer liked my photo on instagram and followed me!

The Dark Defender is a flakie teal jelly polish, with hints of purple and green. Did I mention that I love it? The formula was great, I used three thin coats, but you could get away with two thick coats. My pictures show 3 coats with no top coat.
