Teal

I’m not actually sure when Barry M brought this polish out, I bought it from Amazon a few weeks ago, and only saw it in Superdrug after that. To me, teal looks more green than blue, and reminds me of Green With Envy (I’ll have to compare the two together) and it has a lovely metallic finish. My pictures show three coats, two would have been fine but I had a problem with brush strokes.

I missed the postman this morning (I was still asleep!) which I was a little disappointed with as I really wanted my Sleep Rollers! Has anybody else tried them out yet?

Purple Sherbet

This month, Marie Claire are giving away Ciate´nail polishes with their magazine, in three shades, Purple Sherbet, Jelly Bean, and Bon Bon. Marie Claire is £3.70, although WHSmith had a 2 for £6 offer on some magazines. Ciate´polishes are usually £9, and there’s also a 25% off discount code in the magazine. I picked up Purple Sherbet and Jelly Bean. Lots of magazine seem to have great freebies this month, Glamour have a choice of 3 benefit products (I got all 3!), and in others I’ve seen Body Shop mascara and eye pencils, Leighton Denny nail polish, Jemma Kidd makeup and even a free Reiss vest, I was very tempted to pick them all up, I think the cashier might have thought I was a bit crazy though!

Purple Sherbet is the first Ciate´polish I’ve tried, although I have been tempted by them for a while, especially their Caviar Manicure, and I’ve seen lots of great reviews. First of all, I love the bottles, the little bow makes them very pretty! The colour is gorgeous too, a lovely creamy lilac, although it was quite sheer, and I needed 3 coats to cover completely.

I decided to add glitter, and created a reverse gradient glitter, using Rimmel’s Disco Ball.

Tomorrow I’m going to Liverpool for a tour of Anfield. Although I’m a Sunderland supporter, I’ve been on a few stadium tours (Camp Nou, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge) and I love seeing parts of the stadium you don’t usually see on a match day, along with the museum parts and all the silverware! I’m definitely looking forward to touching that famous ‘This is Anfield’ sign on the walk down the tunnel!

Dots

Ever since I started my blog and started following people, I’ve been dying to try out some dotty patterns, after seeing so many brilliant ones on normandlou! So I got myself some dotting tools off eBay (99p for 5 , love eBay!) and tried them out last night.

Photobucket

I used Nails Inc Notting Hill Gate for the base, and Nails Inc Kensington Park Road, Rimmel Night Before, and Barry M 66 Matt White for the dots.

It did take me a while, mainly because the tools didn’t fit in the bottles very well! And I struggled doing my right hand, but I loved it, and I’ll definitely be doing it again soon!

On twitter earlier, Lindsey Kelk posted pictures of a special ‘I Heart London’ Nails Inc polish to celebrate her new book.

They’re limited edition for a competition, so I’ll definitely be on the look out for that! It would be great if they’d done this throughout the whole ‘I Heart…’ series!

Green With Envy

Green With Envy is part of Rimmel’s 60 seconds collection, and I got this as a present for my birthday from one of my friends.  The 60 seconds polishes have an Xpress™ brush for 1 second application, and also claims its a one coat polish, that dries in 60 seconds. I decided to try this out.

The Xpress™ brush was very easy to use, I thought it might have been strange to use with it being wider than normal brushes, but the polish went on nicely, and probably only did take about a second to apply.

I decided to test out the drying time too, a lot of polishes that claim to dry in 60 seconds don’t, and the only one I have found so far that dries in the time it says is the Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat, which dries in 45 seconds. The Rimmel polish was no different, and wasn’t dry within 60 seconds, but it did still dry quite quickly.

The bottle also says this is a one coat polish, the picture below shows one coat, and it was still quite sheer.

The colour of this polish is gorgeous, and seems to change between emerald, teal and turquoise, with a lovely shimmering finish. The pictures show two coats.

Privileged & Strawberry Fizz

So as I expected my Purple Dream polish chipped almost straight away after my post, to try and make it last over the weekend I added a couple of extra coats, and finished it off with two coats of Nails Inc “Privileged’ over the top. Privileged is part of the Blair Gossip Girl duo and creates a gorgeous top coat with flakes of glitter.

This made my polish last the weekend, which saw Sunderland beat QPR 3-1, with three terrific goals from Nicklas Bendtner, James McClean and Stephane Sessegnon. I took a few pictures before the game as well, this is one of my favourites, the pit wheel with the Stadium of Light in the background.

What finally ruined my nail polish completely was assembling my new patio table on Sunday! It was lovely sitting out in the sun today finishing reading my book.

I also repainted my nails while I was sat out in the sun. I started with a couple of coats of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish in Strawberry Fizz. This is a gorgeous bright bubblegum pink, which when dry has a lovely fruity scent. After this I added a couple of coats of Barry M’s 264 Pink Iridescent glitter to give it some sparkle. It doesn’t photograph too well, but the glitter has some lovely colours in it when it hits the light.

Back to football, Sunderland have another huge game tomorrow (well today now!) the FA Cup Quarter Final replay against Everton. At this time tomorrow I’ll either be having a Party with Marty as I plan a trip to Wembley, or I’ll be gutted! I’ve been to Wembley once, for an England friendly against Germany, but getting to Wembley as a Sunderland supporter would be amazing (even though I don’t agree with the semi finals behind held at Wembley).

Pall Mall & Disco Ball

As expected my ‘Baker Street’ nails didn’t last long, couldn’t wait to try out other new colours! Today I started off with nails inc Pall Mall. This is a very light oyster shell shade, shimmery with a hint of pink. I struggled to capture the shimmer in the colour. It looked ok after two coats, but I felt it needed three for the best coverage.

I also got a chance to try out my new nails inc Kensington caviar base coat and top coat. I wasn’t quite sure if the top coat would be touch dry in 45 seconds as it claimed, but it was, I’m always smudging my nails so this should be very helpful!

Photobucket

Originally I was going to finish off my nails with a gradient glitter on my ring fingers, but I liked it so much that I decided to do all my nails! This is Rimmel’s Lasting Finish in Disco Ball. Disco Ball is a mainly made up of small holographic silver glitter, with larger blue and purple pieces of glitter, and looks great when it catches the light.
