Leopard Print

I’ve been trying to give my nails a breather this week, they’re still quite badly stained, so having them polish free was a challenge! I also broke my index finger nail. I’ve only been growing my nails properly since I started my blog, before that I always liked them short, this was my first major nail break, and I wasn’t happy! I know some people like to file all their nails down if they break one, but I just couldn’t bear it!

For the weekend I decided to have a first attempt at leopard print. I used Ciate´Purple Sherbet (one of my favourite polishes now), Nails Inc Notting Hill Gate, and Barry M 47 Black. I used my dotting tools, and I love how they turned out! I’ll definitely be doing this again, there’s endless colour combinations!

Tomorrow, the Premier League is back, and I cannot wait! I’m going down to London for Arsenal v Sunderland, and although I’m not very optimistic, I’ll be happy to have football back! The Emirates is also one of my favourite grounds, especially the padded seats. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the early start, our bus leaves at 5.45am. The weather is expected to be around 30°c too, it’ll be like going on holiday!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend 🙂

Wear Something Spar-Kylie

A couple of weeks ago I ordered some things from the ASOS sale, and they had some reduced Nicole by OPI polish. I couldn’t resist getting one! I got Wear Something Spar-Kylie from the Kardashian Kolor collection. I also had to google who Kylie was, I’d never watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians, so I only knew who Kourtney, Kim and Khloe´were. Now, thanks to Netflix, I am hooked on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and I’m already on Season 5, along with two seasons of Kourtney and Khloe´Take Miami.

The first thing I thought when I got this polish is what an odd shape the bottle is! Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a pink glitter polish, with a pink base and various shades of pink glitter. Once I’d added top coat it had a jelly finish. I only needed two coats, and it dried super quick, by the time I’d finished one coat on all my nails the first ones were dry!

Today I also got myself a fish tank! I’m only getting three goldfish, but I’m very excited! We set the tank up today, and we’re getting the fish on Sunday. I used to have some fish, but that was probably nearly 10 years ago now, and it’ll be nice to have another pet after losing my dog a couple of months ago (still after a puppy too!)

Tomorrow night I’m off to Hartlepool v Sunderland and I cannot wait! It’s Sunderland’s first pre-season game back in the UK after they were in South Korea for the Peace Cup. I’ve missed going to football so much, and it’s another football ground to tick off my list!

Lots of Dots

Last night I went out for a meal, at what used to be one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Durham. Not anymore! I’m quite a fussy eater, so I like Italian’s as they do a lot of chicken, and things weren’t going well when the waiter didn’t seem happy with me not wanting garlic mayonnaise on my starter (I hate garlic) then with how I wanted my chicken. I’ve never had this problem before anywhere, places where they make things from scratch have always been happy to change things slightly for me. Something else I hated was the waiter taking plates away while some people at the table were still eating, so rude! Rant over! 🙂

Anyway, my nails for last night, I didn’t want something plain, I started by painting my nails with Pedal Faster Suzi (which I was sure I’d already blogged about!), from OPI‘s Holland collection, a super girly shimmering light bubblegum pink, then I added some dots, using Nails Inc Westminster, Chinatown, and 2True No. 54.

At the minute I’m watching France v England, currently 1-1 at half time, England took the lead through a Lescott header, then Nasri equalised for France. I’m not sure if I can see England winning, but I hope they can at least get a draw! I’ve got my shirt on while I support the boys!

Someone we know has gone over to the Ukraine for the game, and has taken our Sunderland flag, which is up in the stadium, and it was on tv just before kick off!

Also if you happen to follow me on twitter or instagram (safclyndz), you might have seen me enter Umbro’s #KissTheBadge competition, here’s my entry!

Is anyone else watching Euro 2012? Who do you all support?

Hedonist

This is definitely one of my favourite nail polishes now! Hedonist is part of Model’s Own’s HedKandi collection, and is a neon coral/orange, with a matte finish, but the next day the matte effect seemed to have worn off, and the polish was more glossy. I only needed one coat, but it was quite thick, so my pictures show two coats, as it was quite messy! It dried really quick too.

My photos don’t do this polish justice, it’s so bright! I found that if you look at your screen from a different angle, or tip your screen back slightly, you can see a bit more of the neon effect! I’m not a huge fan of matte polishes, but I love this. If you like bright colours I’d definitely recommend this, I don’t think they come any brighter!

Onto football, I now have a couple of empty months with no games to go to 🙁 today was quite a strange game! Sunderland v Manchester United, with us getting beat off United, and with five minutes to go, Manchester City getting beat off QPR, United fans celebrating, people getting ready to come out and build the stand for the trophy presentation, our game had finished, and with City at 2-2 the reaction at the final whistle was strange, no cheering from either fans, just everyone waiting on the news from the Etihad. Then City scored! Within a couple of minutes the United fans had gone from being over the moon to devastated and streaming out of the stadium!

So congratulations to Manchester City, it’s nice to see someone else winning the league, especially when City have been rather similar to Sunderland over the years, spending a lot of time being relegated and promoted. Now I’m just waiting for a sheik to come and buy Sunderland so we can win the league ha! 😉

Simple Nail Art

Sorry for the quick two posts, but I’ve been busy cleaning my house, so I’ve got a few days of polish to catch up on! For the last couple of days I decided to try out something different with some simple nail art. For my first attempt at this I used Barry M’s silver foil effects, and Nail’s Inc’s Baker Street.

I loved this combination but I chipped it earlier, so I picked another two colours today which I’m hoping will last me the weekend! This is Barry M’s 308 Berry Ice Cream, and Nail’s Inc’s Notting Hill Gate.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m off to see Sunderland v Wolves tomorrow, definitely hoping for a win! Also hoping I might have a winner in the Grand National! Fingers crossed!

Oh and I have to add, congratulations to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who have confirmed they’re engaged!

Indian Ocean

I still can’t believe the result from Saturday! Away at Manchester City, winning 3-1, then we threw it away and drew 3-3! It is still a good result, I’d have happily taken a draw before the game, but it was a bit disappointing going from 3-1 to 3-3 in the last 10 minutes. I did manage to get on TV though, celebrating Seb Larsson’s second goal, and I spotted myself on some pictures! On the first one, I’m just above Mario Balotelli’s head, in front of the person with the red and white shirt on. And the second, I’ve disappeared completely in the madness of the celebrations, and I don’t know how! I can see my dad going crazy, and the guy who was stood next to me on the other side, the little kid in front of me, but I’m nowhere to be seen!

So, onto my nails! I went for the last of my three new Model’s Own polishes, Indian Ocean, which is part of the Beetlejuice Collection.

Indian Ocean was a very sheer polish, and took four coats to get full coverage, definitely worth it though. This shows one coat on my index finger, two on my middle, three on my ring finger, and four on my little finger.

I absolutely LOVE this polish. It’s a shimmery blue, which changes to yellow, orange, pink and purple. It’s so pretty! I tried to show all the different colours so I took quite a few pictures!

I think I’ll have to have another trip to Boots soon while they have their 3 for 2 cosmetics off on, I really want to try out Purple Blue, Emerald Black and Aqua Violet from this collection!

Magenta Divine & Disco Heaven

Firstly, I’d like to say my thoughts are with Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov, who has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia. I hope he makes a full and quick recovery.

For my nails this weekend, I’ve gone for a glitter overload (I’ve gone a bit mad for glitters since discovering the foil removal method!), with my new Model’s Own polishes. I haven’t done the contrasting ring finger for a while, so I decided to do that. I chose Magenta Divine, which is a clear polish packed with bold magenta glitter, and hedkandi Disco Heaven for my ring finger, which is also a clear polish, with gold glitter, along with larger blue/green particles of glitter.

As with most glitter polishes, you do end up with quite a ‘bumpy’ feel, but a couple of layers of top coat fixes this 🙂

I also bought a gorgeous pair of Steve Madden shoes yesterday, I nearly talked myself out of them, but a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes right?

I hope everyone has a good weekend, I’m going to Manchester tomorrow for Manchester City v Sunderland. I don’t have too high expectations from this game, but we did manage to beat them at home (even if it was a last minute goal!), but last time we played at City they thumped up 5-0!

I Lily Love You

As usual Sunderland let me down last night, they may as well have not bothered turning up, although by now I should be used to disappointment! However if someone had said at the start of the season we’d be in the top 10 and make the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup I’d have told them they were crazy, it was nice for us to just get past the third round for a change, and even better to be doing so well in the league after the start we had before Martin O’Neill came in. But anyway, to cheer me up, my new OPI mini collections arrived, yay! 🙂 The ‘Nice Stems’ Collection, and the ‘Dutch Treats’ Collection.

Out of these eight, I was most looking forward to ‘I Lily Love You’ so I decided to start with that. I Lily Love You is a sheer jelly like polish, with flakes of holographic glitter in it, very pretty, but after four coats, my nail was still visible underneath. I’ll definitely be using this one more as a top coat.

I also bought three Model’s Own polishes from Boots in a three for two offer, which I got with my advantage card points 🙂 I chose Indian Ocean, Magenta Divine, and hedkandi Disco Heaven. I’ve never tried any Model’s Own polishes so I’m looking forward to trying these out 🙂

Privileged & Strawberry Fizz

So as I expected my Purple Dream polish chipped almost straight away after my post, to try and make it last over the weekend I added a couple of extra coats, and finished it off with two coats of Nails Inc “Privileged’ over the top. Privileged is part of the Blair Gossip Girl duo and creates a gorgeous top coat with flakes of glitter.

Photobucket
Photobucket

This made my polish last the weekend, which saw Sunderland beat QPR 3-1, with three terrific goals from Nicklas Bendtner, James McClean and Stephane Sessegnon. I took a few pictures before the game as well, this is one of my favourites, the pit wheel with the Stadium of Light in the background.

Photobucket

What finally ruined my nail polish completely was assembling my new patio table on Sunday! It was lovely sitting out in the sun today finishing reading my book.

Photobucket

I also repainted my nails while I was sat out in the sun. I started with a couple of coats of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish in Strawberry Fizz. This is a gorgeous bright bubblegum pink, which when dry has a lovely fruity scent. After this I added a couple of coats of Barry M’s 264 Pink Iridescent glitter to give it some sparkle. It doesn’t photograph too well, but the glitter has some lovely colours in it when it hits the light.

Back to football, Sunderland have another huge game tomorrow (well today now!) the FA Cup Quarter Final replay against Everton. At this time tomorrow I’ll either be having a Party with Marty as I plan a trip to Wembley, or I’ll be gutted! I’ve been to Wembley once, for an England friendly against Germany, but getting to Wembley as a Sunderland supporter would be amazing (even though I don’t agree with the semi finals behind held at Wembley).

Facets of Fuchsia

I picked up Revlon’s Facets of Fuchsia as part of Boots’ 2 for £10 offer, mainly because I had a gift card burning a hole in my purse, and what better to spend it on than more nail polish?!

I’m struggling to decide whether I like this polish or not, but I’m not sure why I don’t like it! I don’t know if its too dark, or not glittery enough compared to how it looks in the bottle, I just can’t put my finger on it.

This is just to show how the polish builds up. It starts very light with one coat, as shown on my index finger, two on my middle finger, three on my ring finger and four on my little finger. I decided to go for four coats as I wanted to try and get a bit more glitter on.

So as I can’t decide how much I like this polish, I’ll leave it at that, and I should have decided by my next post!

And while I was writing this post, Titus Bramble posted this picture of him and some of the other players at Cheltenham, so I’m sharing my love of Phil Bardsley, who is fourth from the right, almost centre of the picture.
